How to Style a bar Cart

In our house, our bar cart is a focal point to our everyday life. It gets a good bit of use, ahem, we did go to Ohio University, and it’s one of my favorite decorative focal points in our [new to us] living room.

I actually got this bar cart several years ago for Seth when we were first dating. I knew he’d love it for his apartment at the time, and I’m happy it worked into the home we’ve built together too.

We got several customized cutting boards for our wedding, and most of them have found a home on our bar cart. It did’t feel right not to display them because they were such kind, thoughtful gifts.

We also got this perfect airplane cocktail shaker for our wedding and when we moved, I had the bright idea to display it with our liquor:

I added a few other small details from our wedding, too. We had a TON (and I mean a ton) of leftover cocktail napkins and it made perfect sense (and was free…) to give them a use. We also added straws from our wedding reception.

I always keep a few cork screws, coasters, a cocktail shaker, an ice bucket and several different types of glasses, so guests have options for drinks. Aside from the ‘standard’ red and white wine glasses (which we keep on a bakers/wine rack on the other side of the room) I always have martini, Collins and rocks glasses.

Beach Ready

Happy Monday! I’m writing this post from the comfort of the balcony at our beach house at IOP. We’re SO excited to be on a much-needed vacation, so I thought my post today would reflect that mindset. I’m gona keep it short and sweet, but also show you something I’ll be wearing to dinner while I’m here:

What to pack for the beach

What is it about packing that I can never seem to start in advance? I definitely think about what I want to bring with me, but never do I actually start to pack.

Until now.

Perhaps because I’m in such need of a vacation, but prepping for my trip next week, I’m ON IT.

Bag & Hat: Target, Sandals: Make Me Chic c/o, Earrings: H&M, Lotion: Hawaiian Tropic

First things first – you need a beach bag. I found this gem on clearance at Target and HAD to have it – I love the color and the tassel detail (it goes with my pom sandals!) and it’s SO roomy. Crucial for long beach days when you need towels, magazines, books, sunscreen and – ahem, drinks.

I never work on my tan without this Hawaiian Tropic lotion in tow. Not only does it minimize sunburn, but it makes you skin literally glow. Yeah, you need it.

Much to my family’s chagrin, these pom sandals are definitely coming with me to the beach. They’re SO fun, plus they match my beach bag.

Though I’m not much of a hat wearer day-to-day, all bets are off at the beach (#beachhairdontcare) so a panama hat is crucial.

I love versatile cover-ups that can do double duty as streetwear, and this palm print button-up does just that. I love it with these bright tassel earrings!

What are your beach must-haves? What did I miss? Share!

Beach Ready – Pom Sandals

When it comes to dressing for the beach, I tend to find myself reaching for a few things: bright colors and hats. Ya’ll know I’m not a huge hat wearer, but when it comes to being at the beach, all bets are off.

I had my eye on a pair of these sandals for a LONG time, but couldn’t find a pair that were realistically affordable. When I saw Make Me Chic had a pair that was UNDER $30, I had to have them.

Dress & Hat: H&M, Belt: Target, Sandals: Make Me Chic c/o

Dress & Hat: H&M (both purchased last year), Belt: Target, Sunnies: Betsey Johnson via Marshall’s, Sandals: Make Me Chic c/o

I knew I wanted to wear these shoes with something neutral, since they make such a statement, and what better way to go beach-chic than a white shirtdress?

I’m so excited to take these pretties for a spin at the beach – some content I can’t wait to share with you when I get back!

Summer Brights

Another day, another fun summer dress. I promised you’d be seeing this dress again, but I was excited to style it more causally.

Ddress: Make Me Chic, Jean Jacket: F21, Necklace: Gabes, Sandals: Zara, Lip: Bite

Dress: Make Me Chic c/o, Jean Jacket: F21, Necklace: Gabes, Sandals: Zara, Lip: Bite High Pigment Pencil in ‘Velvet

At the end of this week, I’m heading to Charleston, SC/Isle of Palms for a week at the beach, and to say I’m already there in my mind is an understatement. Nothing like throwing on a jean jacket and your favorite sparkly sandals to take it from dressy to casual and add a little sass. Ya’ll know I’m all about versatility.

Does anyone else feel like getting dressed can be an expression of how you’re feeling? I definitely do. I tend toward a positive personality (most of the time..we all have our moments…) and dressing in bright colors helps me exude that. It’s been pretty grey around the Cincy area lately – so bright colors are a must to boost my mood.

What do you do when the weather is gloomy in order to boost your mood?

I’m so excited to share some different content with you coming up this week and next, and then tons of content from my vacation after that!

Blue & White Embroidered Dress

I don’t know what it is about summer ’16, but I’m all about the blue and white (here too!) When I came across this pretty little dress at none other than Forever 21, I knew I had to have it.

Dress: Forever 21, Bag: DSW, Heels: Shoedazzle, Lip: YSL Rouge Volupte in ‘Fetish Pink‘

It’s the perfect dress not only for a day date, but I’ve been wearing it a ton with flat sandals, too.

I also needed it so I could without a doubt take it on my beach trip in a couple weeks (more on that coming next week!). You know I’m all about vertsaility in my wardrobe, and that definitely doesn’t change even with easy summer dresses.

Recipe of the Week: #Paleo Turkey Meatballs

Alright ya’ll, I know you’re never supposed to miss a Monday (wait are we in the gym or talking blog?), but yesterday I just couldn’t get it together to get you a new post. Then last night, as I went to make dinner, I realized I had to share this recipe with you. It’s not the sexiest of recipes, but they’re so delicious (and healthy!) I had to share.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 2 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 1 Onion, peeled and grated
  • 3 Cloves Garlic, finely minced
  • ¼ Cup Fresh Parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • Salt & Pepper
  • ¼ Cup Almond Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Almond (or coconut) Flour
  • 1 Pound Ground Turkey
  • Extra-Light Olive Oil
  • Tomato Sauce, for serving

Combine the beaten egg, tomato paste, grated onion, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, pepper, almond flour, and almond flour. Mix well, then mix in the meat. (These meatballs are much stickier than traditional.)

Preheat the oven to 400º.

Heat a nonstick skillet over high heat and enough of the olive oil to coat the skillet. Using a medium ice cream scoop, scoop the mixture and drop them directly into the pan. Let them cook for about 30 seconds or until brown, then flip them over using a spoon (I found this was the easiest in order to keep them intact). Cook them until brown on the other side, about 30 seconds, and then transfer to a baking sheet lined with foil (I coated mine with Pam beforehand.)

Transfer the meatballs to the oven and bake for about 20 minutes for the large size, or 15 minutes if you used a medium-sized scoop.

The meatballs will be firm to the touch when finished.

Serve with tomato sauce and parm!

Happy eating,

Annie Signoff

Friday Faves

We made it! It’s almost the weekend! I wish I had more to report around these parts.. I’ve actually been basically doing nothing but working, and will pretty much be working all weekend, too. I DO hope to carve out some QT with my hubs this weekend, along with our pool.

Anyway, here’s what I’m loving around the interwebs this week:

Happy reading and happy weekend! Pour a little rose slushie out for me, as I’ll be workin’ all weekend!

Over the past year or so, I’ve found myself reaching for kimono-esque pieces like this one when I’m just not sure what to wear. Whenever I find myself staring at my closet, not knowing what to wear (I’m candidly terrible at planning what I’m going to wear for work in advance) I’ll grab a basic dress and throw a kimono over it. Instant outfit that’s both put together, but doesn’t look like you’re trying too hard.

Kimono: H&M, Tank: Express (similar), Shorts: Old Navy, Heels: Ugg, Bracelets: Vintage, Lip: Anastasia Beverly Hills in ‘Pure Hollywood

While I usually love them over dresses, I’m also loving this one paired with classic jean shorts and my ole’ trusty white silk tank for a classic summer look.

These UGG heels have been a staple in my warm-weather wardrobe for several years now. Yes, years. The best part is that I happened across them at Marshall’s and got them for a great price. You know I’m all about that. They’re one of my most comfortable pairs of heels, with a padded footbed so it actually feels like you’re walking on a cloud. Leave it to Ugg.
